Woman needed in SET sectors

The science, engineering and technology (SET) industries are not getting enough women into jobs in the sectors, but many companies would like more, states Women in Technology.

Three quarters of women graduates in SET don't actually pursue careers in these areas, while half of male graduates do. It has also been suggested that women outperform their male counterparts, causing more companies to seek female employees.

Yvonne Baker, chief executive of the Science, Engineering, Technology and Mathematics , commented: "We have big employers desperate for more women because they want a different perspective.”
