40% of British males hooked on porn

The number of adults accessing pornography on the Internet has grown by leaps and bounds from 2000 to 2005, according to a survey conducted by Nielsen NetRatings for the Independent on Sunday newspaper.

According to Earthtimes.org, Britain has become the fastest-growing market in the world for the estimated lb20 billion adult Web site industry, the report said.

More than nine million men accessed pornographic content on the Web last year. This equates to about 40% of the male population. The figure was up from about two million in 2000.

Online journalists win Apple appeal

Apple has lost its battle to find out where online journalists get information on company products, reports Pocket-lint.co.uk.

The ruling from an appeals court in California, on Friday, means online writers in the US are protected by the state`s shield for reporters, as well as by the First Amendment, the state Court of Appeal in San Jose ruled, reversing a lower court decision.

Apple subpoenaed the e-mail provider of Jason O`Grady, publisher of O`Grady`s PowerPage, an Internet site that posted information in 2004 about an unreleased Apple product.

Firefox snaps at Microsoft`s heels

Mitchell Baker does not look like a typical technology geek. The first thing that makes her stand out is the dyed red hair, draped in a style that is perhaps best described as more new romantic than new economy.

But Baker, as the head of the Mozilla Foundation, is one of the world`s most important Internet entrepreneurs. In November 2004 the company released Firefox, an Internet browser, says the Telegraph.co.uk.

Just over 18 months on, Firefox has an estimated 50 million customers worldwide and a 15% share of the global browser market.
