"The more ambitious the software project, the greater the likelihood of failure," says Thorsten Freitag, chairman of Kensense South Africa.
Across some 23 000 software projects studied in one recent survey, researchers discovered a 55% success rate for projects costing under $750 000, while those costing more than $1 million had a success rate of just 18%.
Project leaders and business sponsors most frequently mention the "soft stuff", the human component, as being the most critical factor which determines the return on investment, success or failure of a software project (source: Chrysalis International).
"User-related issues continue to be the bottleneck in any IT project. When a software system is being rolled out, its effectiveness is directly dependent on the user's ability to operate it correctly and efficiently, have access to relevant information in a timely manner and to comply with defined business processes," concludes Freitag.
Kensense solutions eliminate the risk of a project failure, drastically reduce training times as well as error rates and guide employees when using new applications in a live production environment and "on the fly". We ensure that a company's software roll-out will be successful, says Freitag.
Kensense, a German software vendor, is the first and only provider of application experience monitoring and next-generation knowledge management and human resources skills development solutions. Kensense's solutions accelerate the roll-out of new software applications and substantially improve the effective use of new and existing applications within an enterprise, thus reducing costs and maximising the return on software investments.
* Only Kensense allows organisations to monitor and measure how employees are using applications and how well software is being utilised on an enterprise-wide basis.
