Abacus Telecomm offers hosted PABX solutions

Cape Town, 21 Feb 2013

Abacus Telecomm is now offering hosted PABX solutions to the small to medium enterprise market. Dominic Sardinha of Abacus Telecomm says: "With the advent of cloud computing and virtual hosting, customers are beginning to shift their IT requirements into hosted data centres across the country. These hosted offerings allow customer to centralise, protect and easily access their data from anywhere in the world.

Taking it one step further, we are now able to place our IP PBX solutions in these same data centres. The major benefit of this is that a customer's PBX solution can now become centralised, allowing extensions to remotely register from anywhere in the world. "In addition to this," Sardinha adds, "the security of the vulnerability of their IP PBX, which can be prone to hack attacks, is greatly enhanced."

Abacus Telecomm has been offering highly competitively-priced IP PBX solutions to the marketplace for nearly six years now. These solutions are fully functional solutions with features such as voice logging, IVR, auto attendant, and voicemail to mention a few. Sardinha continues: "Previously, clients have had to finance or lay out large sums of money to have a PABX solution implemented. Now with our hosted PBX solution, clients don't need to do this. Clients now only have to rent per extension that they require. What this means, as opposed to paying large rentals or finance payments, clients can now pay per extension that they require.

"This starts at R80 per extension," Sardinha adds, "and based on the number of extensions required, can be reduced to as little as R50 per extension. Our solutions are completely scalable and we can accommodate up to 300 extensions per client."

"Why hosted?" Sardinha asks. "Well, in a nutshell, the affordability option, for starters. In addition, small companies can now also have the full feature-rich functionality of a PABX that was traditionally only available to larger corporates. Also, by having the PBX hosted in a data centre, the uptime of the PBX is greatly increased. These data rooms are state-of-the-art, with multiple redundancies and fail overs. Power is always available with backup power supplies, UPS and diesel generators, ensuring even during lengthy power failures, their telephone system is always accessible."

Sardinha continues by mentioning that infrastructure requirements such as power and cabling are reduced on the client's side, as only an IP telephone is required. "These can now be powered by Power over Ethernet, or POE switches, with a single UPS attached. Not only that, but the office extension can now be taken home and utilised there as well, by simply connecting it to the Internet connection at the residence," Sardinha says.

"Clients now only need to cater for minimal redundancies in the event of power or Internet failure. In addition, clients will be able to register their mobile smartphones as their extension as well. So, in the event of Internet failure or total power loss, clients can register their cellphone to the hosted PBX and still operate as normal," Dominic concludes.
