Deltalink Consulting, the exclusive Southern African distributor of Russia-based ABBYY, today announced that two of the latter's products, ABBYY FineReader 9.0 and FlexiCapture 8.0, have been recognised with 2008 BERTL's Best Awards.
Covering the entire digital imaging and document management area, BERTL's Best Awards are determined on an annual basis by BERTL analysts who review hundreds of digital imaging devices, software and management utilities in the worldwide marketplace.
Awards are determined by how well products perform within a real-world setting in terms of feature set, functionality and performance.
ABBYY FineReader 9.0 received the award for Best Set of Ancillary Features in a Top Tier OCR Program for a number of its user-friendly features, including photo OCR capability that improves recognition accuracy, user-defined folder management functionality, automated optical character recognition (OCR) and innovative Adaptive Document Recognition Technology (ADRT).
ABBYY FlexiCapture 8 was honoured with the Best Forms Processing Solution for Structured, Semi and Unstructured Forms and Documents award for its ease-of-use for both users and administrators, and for its state-of-the-art ability to move data from paper to electronic format as efficiently as possible, no matter the type of form.
ABBYY FineReader 9.0 is an easy-to-use OCR and document conversion application that delivers precision accuracy in converting almost any type of document such as books, magazine articles, tables, spreadsheets, contracts and faxes, and recognises 184 languages including newly-added support for Chinese (both traditional and simplified), Japanese, Thai and Hebrew. With its breakthrough ADRT, ABBYY FineReader 9.0 is intelligent enough to recognise not just the text and basic layout, but the logical structure of a document and to automatically output editable files in native Microsoft Office formatting.
FlexiCapture 8.0, designed to meet organisational and departmental paper-processing needs for users and administrators alike, intelligently automates data extraction from any type of paper form or document without the need for manual pre-sorting or manual keying. FlexiCapture 8.0 extracts data from structured forms, semi-structured forms, unstructured documents and any combination of several document types, and efficiently provides accurate data for input into databases and a variety of business systems and processes.
"To be selected for an award which places such emphasis on innovation and true market value is a great honour, and we are very pleased to be distinguished by BERTL," commented Dean Tang, chief executive officer at ABBYY USA. "We are devoted to helping our customers improve business efficiency by delivering the most comprehensive document recognition and data capture solutions on the market. To be recognised in this way by the analysts of BERTL is especially meaningful."
