ABC to unify broadcasting
ABC speaks of its agenda for the future of ABC's international broadcasting operations, and the call for unifying its radio and television into one strong brand, says the Gov Monitor.
Mark Scott, MD of ABC, called for a revaluation of the importance of Australia's soft diplomatic efforts and renewed investment into international broadcasting.
The plan to combine ABC's two international broadcasting arms, Australia Network and Radio Australia, into one strong brand, such as the BBC or CNN, could spearhead a more vigorous approach to broadcasting in the region that meets the demands of this new era of globalisation, said Scott.
Pay TV redefined
The pay TV experience is being redefined with the integration of multiple platforms, on-demand viewing options, and the convergence of broadcast with online and mobile, reports Media.asia.
“The growing availability of pay TV, telephony and broadband packages in many markets is expanding consumption possibilities including HD, video-on-demand, interactive home shopping, time and date shifting, mobile TV and more,” says Simon Twiston Davies, CEO of the Cable and Satellite Broadcasting Association of Asia.
A survey from Frost & Sullivan suggests nearly 21% of households across 14 Asia-Pacific countries were subscribed to multiple services consisting of a combination of broadband, TV and fixed and mobile services.
