Absa bank's MD of digital channels, Christo Vrey, has stepped down to pursue career opportunities with Citibank, in Mexico, where he will take up the position of MD of alternative channels.
"In his two tenures with Absa, Christo played an integral role in developing our digital business and providing our customers with a world-class experience across all digital touch points. We certainly wish him well, with every success in his future endeavours," says Arrie Rautenbach, Absa head of retail markets.
Adrian Vermooten, deputy head of digital banking services at Absa for the past two years, has been appointed Vrey's successor.
As a veteran of the local ICT and banking industries, Vrey has held several positions at Absa bank, as well as having worked as a senior consultant for Accenture, senior analyst/programmer at the Discount House of SA, and a lecturer at Rand Afrikaans University.
