Abu Dhabi explores ICT initiatives
A team from Abu Dhabi Media Company has deployed a system at the Abu Dhabi Education Council (Adec) to enable teachers to use applications such as active directory, enterprise resource planning system and e-mail service, reports WAM.
Adec is preparing to roll out an ICT infrastructure upgrade project that aims to provide all 300 public schools in the emirate of Abu Dhabi with state-of-the-art ICT infrastructure over the coming 14 months.
This upgrade will help connect all schools to a wide area network that will provide centralised management, support, and monitoring services to all schools.
APC completes green centres
APC has installed two tier-three data centres for Smartworld within Dubai World Central, a strategic implementation that has to support mission critical applications, states Eye of Dubai.
Smartworld, a next-generation ICT services provider, works closely with government agencies and telecommunications operators to increase operational efficiencies and drive business value.
The clear path to capturing these new revenue streams lie in providing energy efficient solutions, not just products, according to Rodney Callaghan, VP of APC by Schneider Electric Gulf Countries.
US govt department upgrades network
The US Attorney General's Department (AGD) will upgrade its network to improve availability and performance, says Computerworld.
The upgrade will see the AGD deploy a unified network management system in an effort to provide a unified view of the systems and services that underpin vital business services at the agency.
It will also provide the capability to monitor applications, websites, services, environmental components, storage, network infrastructure, servers and software patching levels across all domains.
