AccessKenya expands to major towns
AccessKenya, the country's largest corporate Internet service provider, is expanding to major towns in the country, says allAfrica.com.
The firm's services are now available in Kisumu, Eldoret and Nakuru.
The company moved recently to increase its international bandwidth to over 300MB, extending its lead as Kenya's largest buyer of bandwidth.
Cameroon's tariffs drop
Consumers of telephone services in Cameroon were expected to have begun enjoying a 20% reduction in call prices on 1 June, says allAfrica.com.
This is the outcome of a recent agreement between telephone companies, operators and the Telecommunications Regulatory Board, or TRB.
While announcing the new prices at a press briefing in Yaounde, TRB GM Jean Louis Beh Mengue said the move was to make life cheaper for Cameroonians.
Sierra Leone school gets solar power
Plans are afoot to install the first government-owned school computer centre powered by solar energy in Sierra Leone, says allAfrica.com.
The Prince of Wales Alumni Association - Georgia branch is proposing to provide a centre with new desktop and laptop computers, a solar power system and high-speed satellite Internet access for its school in Freetown.
The estimated total capital cost of the project is between $60 000 and $70 000.
