AccPac will support Windows 2000 to meet the needs of growing mid-market

Windows 2000 improvements will save AccPac customers time and money
Johannesburg, 01 Jun 1999

LA Technology, sole distributors for AccPac in South Africa, has announced that AccPac for Windows, a financial and business management software application for mid-market companies, will support the MicrosoftWindows 2000 operating system.

Clients running AccPac on Windows 2000 will be better able to architect their networks to take advantage of the benefits of distributed processing. In addition, other features of Windows 2000 will provide customers of AccPac for Windows easier system management, which can lower the total cost of ownership of the combined AccPac and Microsoft solution.

Through the unique architecture of AccPac`s products, the company has been able to easily integrate support for Microsoft`s Distributed Component Object Model (DCOM) and will be able to deploy DCOM objects in a Windows 2000 environment. As a result, companies using AccPac for Windows will be better able to allocate processing-intensive tasks, such as Day End Processing, across a Windows 2000-based network to optimise system resources.

AccPac for Windows will also take advantage of other capabilities of Windows 2000, including the new Windows 2000 Installer and the Microsoft Management Console (MMC). In Windows 2000, AccPac for Windows will install some of the administrative functions of the System Manager on the Microsoft Management Console. By moving administrative functions from AccPac to the MMC, system administrators gain easier access to these functions, which ultimately lowers maintenance and increases efficiency.

"With increasing demand in the mid-market for Microsoft BackOffice-based applications, AccPac is fully committed to supporting the latest Microsoft technologies to enhance the accounting experience and increase the efficiency of AccPac," says Jeremy Waterman, MD of LA Technology. "The end result for our clients is easier system administration, which can deliver what is perhaps the most powerful benefit of the AccPac and Microsoft combination - lower total cost of ownership."

"Support for Microsoft Windows 2000 by AccPac for Windows extends AccPac`s ability to deliver easily deployed, high-performing business management solutions to mid-market businesses," Waterman continues. "In addition, AccPac`s support of COM and VBA technologies enables greater integration with other Microsoft-centric business applications."
