Acer SA has partnered with Miss Earth SA as part of its campaign to promote environmental awareness.
Graham Braum, Acer SA country manager, says: "Minimising waste, pollution, energy use and use of hazardous material are just some of the concerns that Acer is addressing as it strives to make its products more environmentally friendly."
Braum points out that energy efficiency is a major research and development focus for Acer and its key business partners such as Intel and AMD.
According to Acer, the IT company partnered with the Miss Earth initiative to educate the public about green IT solutions that minimise power usage and wastage of resources.
Acer SA donated an Aspire Timeline 4810 notebook to Miss Earth SA to encourage the public to opt for energy-efficient technology.
The Aspire Timeline notebooks use the Intel ultra-low voltage processors and LED-backlit displays for longer battery life. In addition, its power adaptor has an adaptive charging mode; which automatically stops consuming power when the battery is fully charged, saving energy and reducing heat.
