Acer South Africa has appointed Pinnacle Micro as a local distributor of its commercial products, as part of a drive to increase it share of the corporate and government PC markets.
Pinnacle Micro will distribute a comprehensive range of Acer products into corporate and government accounts. The company has been appointed to focus on the desktop and server product range, including the Veriton and Power series PCs, the Altos servers and storage.
Pinnacle Micro will also distribute LCD monitors, projectors, and through Acer's existing partners, will provide the TravelMate and commercial range of notebooks.
The company's territory will encompass South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Angola, Mozambique, Zambia, and Malawi.
"Pinnacle Micro is an ideal partner for Acer South Africa as we look to grow the business in major accounts. The company has an excellent track-record as a distributor of personal computers and related products, as well as a strong presence in a range of government and corporate accounts," says David Drummond, country manager of Acer SA.
"Acer South Africa has reached the number two position in the local personal computer market, largely on the back of its success in the small to medium business and retail markets," he adds.
"As such, the appointment of Pinnacle Micro as a distributor complements Acer's existing business and distribution channels, by allowing us to move more aggressively into the corporate market where we do not yet have a major presence."
