ADC KRONE helps set the standards

ADC KRONE supports the 2005 ISO/IEC plenary meeting in Edinburgh
Johannesburg, 11 Nov 2005

As part of the drive to ensure globally harmonised standards in the structured cabling industry, ADC KRONE co-sponsored the 16th plenary of ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 25 and the associated working group meetings this year. More than 80 delegates from 22 countries attended the event that took place in Edinburgh last month. We are operating in a highly technical industry and deal with a plethora of cabling products, says Stuart Reeves, Technical Manager at ADC KRONE.

Commonly understood standards, to which we all adhere and refer, are the only way to ensure we can provide the high quality products to support emerging applications that our customers require for years to come.

Significant progress was made on various cabling standards. The main discussions centred around the proposed new ISO/IEC standards for generic cabling incorporating the channel requirements for the new Classes EA and FA, generic cabling requirements for industrial premises, and a revised ISO/IEC standard for the testing of optical fibre cabling. Also, a new project for data centre cabling was approved.

These documents will be reviewed again at the next meeting of ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 25/WG 3 that will take place in February 2006 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
