ADIC Africa launches unique 'Investment Protection' offer for Scalar customers

Johannesburg, 25 Feb 2005

ADIC Africa, the black-owned multinational storage vendor in SA, has launched a comprehensive "Investment Protection" programme based on the industry-leading range of ADIC Scalar tape libraries.

"In terms of the programme, organisations currently running an ADIC Scalar 24 library with one or two LTO or SDLT drives have the opportunity to upgrade to the Scalar 100 that can accommodate up to six LTO or SDLT drives and a capacity of 29TB," said Uresh Naran, Channel Manager for ADIC Africa.

"The offer represents unbeatable value for a library that combines enterprise-class performance and reliability with entry-level affordability," he said.

Naran pointed out that the affordability of the upgrade offer has been dramatically enhanced by ADIC Africa.

Customers with a single LTO or SDLT drive in their Scalar 24 will receive a second drive free when they order a Scalar 100 with a single drive. Those customers with two drives in their current Scalar 24 will receive another two drives at no cost when they upgrade to the Scalar 100 library.

"The programme also incorporates a comprehensive range of value-added services that are provided free-of-charge by ADIC Africa to customers who choose to participate in the programme.

"ADIC Africa will take direct responsibility for the installation of the new Scalar 100 at the customer site anywhere in SA at no charge, including free delivery and the cost of recovering the Scalar 24," he said.

The offer is available to all current Scalar 24 customers who purchased their system before 31 December 2004. The offer is available until 31 May 2005 with the upgrade needing to take place before 30 June.

Naran explained that the ADIC Africa "Investment Protection" programme is being made available to ADIC Scalar 24 customers throughout the company's comprehensive sales coverage model in SA.

The offer also incorporates ADIC's three-year Fast Exchange warranty programme that is supported directly by ADIC Africa. Optional ADIC maintenance contracts are available to customers that will help to guarantee enhanced availability and reduced cost of ownership.

Naran described the Scalar 100 as a mid-range, LTO/SDLT library that offers a powerful combination of industry-leading density, trouble-free scalability and advanced storage networking technology.

"This capacity-packed system is capable of supporting 6 LTO or SDLT drives and 72 data slots.

"In today's information and data intensive business environment, the ADIC Africa programme represents a breakthrough for organisations faced with explosive growth in capacity demands and the need to protect invaluable digital assets in terms of legislative and corporate governance requirements as well as business continuity planning," he said.
