Reports on the MyADSL forum yesterday showed ADSL subscribers in the KwaZulu-Natal area encountered service interruptions, as well as authentication problems.
Telkom spokesperson Lulu Letlape says service interruptions, which affected 450 ADSL subscribers in the Westville area, were due to technical problems with digital subscriber line access multiplexers (DSLAMs).
Many of the affected users could not make Internet connections, while those who were able to connect experienced slow speeds or were disconnected, she says.
Letlape says the DSLAM problems have since been resolved. However, Telkom was unable to provide further information on the reported authentication problems.
Reports persist that ADSL subscribers are experiencing authentication problems, says MyADSL founder Rudolph Muller. He is unsure whether these problems were linked to the DSLAM problem, or whether it was a separate issue.
