ADvTECH Skills, the e-learning company in the JSE-listed ADvTECH group, has announced details of a nationwide drive to ensure its wide range of educational software titles are made available to corporate customers across South Africa.
While ADvTECH Skills has traditionally had excellent distribution channels in Gauteng and the Western Cape, it has lacked representation in the more remote areas of the country. Accordingly, says ADvTECH Skills channel manager Brandon Sandiford, the company is launching a channel drive aimed at taking its vast library of interactive titles - more than 500 in total - to other provinces.
The first phase of the new drive sees ADvTECH Skills target Bloemfontein, the Northern Cape and the Northern Province as prime areas.
"We are looking for value-added resellers (VARs) specifically in these areas," says Sandiford. "If they are prepared to apply themselves, they can make great profits as margins on software products are still excellent. A number of our VARs, specifically those in KwaZulu-Natal, enjoyed an exceptional last quarter in 2000, and with our software not represented in a number of provinces, there`s no reason why new VARs in those regions shouldn`t do as well."
Sandiford is seeking VARs which have access to corporate clients and schools, which represent a big market for ADvTECH Skills` software titles.
"In terms of legislation, all companies need their staff to be proficient with computers," says Sandiford, "creating a natural and logical demand for standards-based training products. Technology-based training (TBT) provides this at an affordable price, in effect giving companies all over South Africa access to the same quality education enjoyed by the largest corporations."
The title that has sold particularly well, says Sandiford, is the International Computer Driver`s Licence (ICDL), which gives corporate clients the assurance that their staff are at the right level of competence for their jobs.
"ICDL is an internationally recognised training course that provides a benchmark for information technology literacy," notes Sandiford, "ensuring a common base point of reference for all staff. Its popularity provides our VARs with a relatively easy entry into companies, from which they can begin cross-selling and up-selling from our library. All of our titles are sold on CD-ROM and conform to the latest certifications."
With` 22 years experience, ADvTECH Skills is the unquestioned leader in the TBT market, adds Sandiford.
