The Atomic Energy Corporations (AEC) has elected to use JSE-listed CS Holdings to upgrade its IT-user and training skills following its Microsoft Office 2000 rollout.
CS Holdings` subsidiary, CS Education Solutions, is undertaking the training at AEC`s two divisions, the Pelindaba Nuclear Institute (PNI) and Pelindaba Technologies (PT). Spin offs from the phased-out uranium enrichment technology have resulted in the manufacture of over 200 high tech products and services marketed to more than 22 countries at the AEC site, west of Pretoria.
Kobus Bezuidenhout, the training co-ordinator of PNI, says that in the past, the AEC undertook its own training and used various training organisations. He says that CS Education Solutions was chosen to provide MS office training because of the consistent quality of their training.
Liezel Cuyler, a director of CS Education Solutions explains that a thorough assessment of users to establish their upgrade training was conducted by CS Education Solutions before the training started. Currently, staff ranging from engineers, project managers, supervisors and support staff, are undergoing training in various MS Office applications, particularly Access and Excel."CS Education Solutions receives good feedback from staff attending the training as CS instructors are always prepared to go the extra mile to ensure the success of their courses," Cuyler comments.
Koos Smit, training co-ordinator for PT concurs, "The AEC has to adapt itself to meet the challenges of a changing world. Our staff needs to be able to use the latest PC applications to work effectively and enable the organisation to compete successfully in the global trading environment. CS Education Solutions provides our staff with the necessary skill to competently compete in that kind of environment".
"CS offers internationally accredited courses which is an important aspect when your organisation is working towards ISO 9000 accreditation", says Bezuidenhout. "Foreign clients demand it and we cannot trade without adhering to international standards throughout the organisation. Staff needs to receive world class training and education to enable them to deliver. This is as relevant at the level of individual specialisation as it is at the office skills level. It makes sense when you realise that an organisation is only as strong as the people it employs", emphasizes Bezuidenhout.
