Aegis releases xTend manufacturing software

Aegis Industrial has released its system integration technology and professional services program, xTend.

"xTend is dedicated to providing customers with professional engineering services, consultancy, integration planning and deployment," writes online magazine PBC007.

Technologically, xTend is a framework of .NET interfaces of commonly utilised functions and transfers required by customers to link Aegis solutions to a business system or legacy system.

High-tech manufacturing centre built in Malaysia

Norwegian oil services and construction group Aker Kvaerner is investing 250 million kroner (R223 million) to establish a high-technology manufacturing centre in Malaysia, reports Business Times.com.

Although the exact location of the centre is not known yet, Aker Kvaerner executive VP Raymond Carlsen says that some of Aker Kvaerner`s Malaysian employees are already training at its upgraded Tranby facility in Norway.

"Malaysia`s well-developed infrastructure and the support extended by the authorities for such high-technology developments in the country were important factors in choosing the location," he adds.

Delphi, Varroc establish new plant

Manufacturing technology developer Delphi, together with Varroc Engineering, has inaugurated a plant, Varroc Exhaust Systems at Chakan, India.

"The alliance provides a new motorcycle catalyst manufacturing plant in a Varroc facility in India with technology and manufacturing expertise provided by Delphi," says India InfoLine. Excluding the working capital, investments into this venture stand at about Rs 8 crores (R10 908 159).

The alliance will focus on sales to Bajaj Auto, India`s largest motorcycle manufacturer, adds the article.
