Affordable colour printing for the SME market

Johannesburg, 07 Mar 2003

Printacom, a division of the MB Technologies Group, has announced the availability of the most cost-effective, high-performance colour laser printer for the small to medium-sized enterprise (SME) market.

"Colour lasers have traditionally been slow, overpriced printers with performance models out of reach to all except those with large budgets," says Printacom MD, Neil Rom. "The Oki C5000 Series of colour lasers breaks these traditional barriers and is leading the industry in the production of affordable colour printers that perform way beyond their price tag."

SMEs often want to make a strong visual impression, but have previously only been able to access colour by forgoing cost, quality or speed. Historically they have either had to outsource print at a high cost, be restricted to black and white, and use either slow multi-pass lasers or inkjet printers that are expensive to run. "Oki now provides these businesses with affordable access to high performance colour," states Rom.

Research in Australia shows in-house printing can deliver nearly 150% cost savings compared to colour copy centres.

The C5000 Series is the only range of sub-R20 000 Digital LED tandem page printers in SA. Incorporating Oki`s single pass Digital LED technology, these printers have a resolution of 600 x 1200dpi, auto-colour balance, networking as standard and an automatic double-sided print option.

Additionally, with a 12ppm (page per minute) colour and 20ppm mono print speed, they are up to three times the speed of comparatively priced multi-pass machines. Combining quality, performance, speed, a compact size and new attractive curved styling, the C5000 Series is ideal for the smaller office.

A recent IDC study shows that 66% of Europe business owners with colour printers report they are being used to bring print jobs that would normally be outsourced, in-house. In addition, 55% of businesses believe that colour printing will replace mono entirely in the next decade.

"We believe individuals in business and small workgroups have a right to print in colour and mono without the need to compromise on quality and without paying extra for the privilege," states Rom.

In today`s business environment, smaller enterprises need not only tailored solutions, but also products that will enable them to compete directly with their larger rivals without compromising on quality, speed or cost. "We believe the new C5000 Series represents a breakthrough in enabling this market to leverage the benefit of colour printing in their business," concludes Rom.

To celebrate the launch of the groundbreaking Oki printers, Printacom has initiated a reseller incentive with 20 tickets to the Italian Grand Prix in Monza up for grabs.
