Location-based services company, AfriGIS, has developed GeoDispatch which is a location-enabled, resource management and routing software solution for SMEs.

Magnus Rademeyer, AfriGIS MD, says the solution closes the gap experienced by many SMEs, particularly in the services industry.

“For SMEs like electricians, plumbers and security companies, getting their work force, which is invariably on the road, to clients' locations to perform the job and close the reporting loop once the job is completed can be a real challenge.

“GeoDispatch allows SMEs to visually manage jobs and resources and use the mobile phones of their work force to direct them to clients, provide details of the job and give the employees the ability to notify the office when the job is complete,” he says.

According to Rademeyer, the solution gives SMEs a front-end login to a Web site. Once they have logged in, they can set up the solution, load their company logo, customise the colours and register all their staff and their mobile phone numbers on the system.

Rademeyer says when a call comes in from a client, the details of the job and the client's location are captured. Addresses are matched against AfriGIS' National Address Database to ensure the company has the exact location. The client is SMSed to notify them that their job has been captured and a reference number is supplied.

The process and instant reporting system allows businesses to shorten the time taken to complete service requests and manage the workforce, resulting in noticeable productivity gains.

Rademeyer points out that the solution lets SMEs log jobs, track their progress, manage a mobile work force, utilise GeoDispatch as a mobile tracking solution and ensure the customer's expectations and questions are managed quickly and efficiently.
