The Graphics Systems Division of Agfa (Pty) Ltd has announced the appointment of Kemtek Imaging Systems Holdings Limited as a distributor of Agfa digital lithographic plates and chemistry in southern Africa. The appointment will be of major benefit to the printing industry and will provide the industry with an additional supplier of Agfa digital plates and chemicals.
While Agfa and Kemtek sell competing lines of digital exposure equipment and workflow and management systems, the new joint sales and distribution arrangement for digital plate consumables will allow customers greater freedom of choice when planning their capital equipment purchases.
Dr Peter de Maayer, managing director of Agfa (Pty) Ltd South Africa, welcomed the development, saying: "It will offer more customers access to Agfa`s advanced digital plate technology and support irrespective of the other choices they wish to make."
Kemtek`s chairman, Vivian Rudaizky, commented: "The research and development that has taken place and will take place in the supply and development of digital plates needs to be supported at distribution level by powerful industry players. Unlike analogue plates, there are few manufacturers that can support programmes for the growing needs of digital printing plates. We are pleased that this agreement heralds the resumption of supply of our digital plate consumables from Agfa. Our customer base will be better served and the industry will enjoy a wider choice of equipment."
Kemtek`s Printing Industry Division operates out of Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and Pretoria and is a leading supplier of Komori Presses, HP Indigo Digital Presses, Screen CtP and CtF Exposure and Development Units, Screen Trueflow Workflow and Management Systems, Konica Minolta Graphic Arts Film, Flint (BASF) Polymer Plates, Vela Analogue Plates, Epson Large Format Printers, Rogers Backing Materials, and now, in addition, Agfa Digital Plates and Chemistry.
