S'pore unveils BCN certifications
IT professionals in Singapore can now heighten their skill sets with the introduction of three certifications this week, focusing specifically on business continuity management, says ZDNet Asia.
Among the three is a home-grown professional certification called the Certification in IT Business Continuity Management. Developed by the Singapore Computer Society (SCS), it covers business continuity management, IT disaster recovery as well as data centre management.
Speaking at the Infocomm Professional Development Forum, SCS president Alphonsus Pang noted that BCM practices are growing in importance due to a greater reliance on ICT. He added that there are currently no IT-specific BCM certifications available globally, marking the Singapore programme as the world's first geared toward IT professionals, he said.

Strategic Thought Group has made available new capabilities for the management of business continuity within major organisations via new functionality built into its widely deployed Active Risk Manager software, writes Sourcewire.
Active Risk Manager Business Continuity Management (ARM BCM) addresses the need for assured business continuity and recovery in the event of major incidents, whether through catastrophic accidents, supply chain failures, pandemic illness, loss of IT systems, or any other major disruption to business processes.
ARM BCM facilitates the identification of business continuity threats, the assessment of the potential impact on the organisation and provides control and monitoring software for the development and maintenance of the plans necessary to protect the business, if such events occur.
