Airline adopts MicroStrategy BI
MicroStrategy has secured a deal for Continental Airlines to use its business intelligence software to gain insight into passenger purchasing habits, reports Information Week.
Continental's marketing staff members are expected to use MicroStrategy's reporting tools and dashboards to analyse data and spot trends that can help the airline develop timely marketing programmes, according to MicroStrategy.
MicroStrategy has deals with at least seven other airlines, but they are all outside the US, including Air Canada, Italia Airlines, and Australian Airlines.
IBM revamps delivery framework
Web 2.0 talk often seems more bluster than reality, but IBM's delivery framework, available now in a new version, has been operating below the radar while making a big impact for service providers, writes Telephony Online.
IBM recently revealed the third version of its Service Provider Delivery Environment Framework.
Originally released in 2001 with a major upgrade in 2006, it is now gaining a slew of additional capabilities, said Larry Hargrove, global sales executive with IBM's Software Group.

Teradata has been recognised for technical excellence and customer satisfaction in business intelligence by two industry publications, says Business Wire.
The world's largest company solely focused on data warehousing and enterprise analytics, Teradata has been ranked in the top 10 list of business intelligence providers in the Annual Consumer Goods Technology Reader's Choice for the third consecutive year.
The ranking is based on customer experience as reported by consumer goods executives to an independent third party.
