Airlines to deploy 'WorldTracer'
An automated kiosk which will help passengers track down lost luggage has been unveiled by the aviation industry at its annual summit, states Telegraph.
Called WorldTracer, it is capable of reading baggage tags within seconds and capturing all the information an airline needs to reunite passengers with their suitcases.
The technology, which will be released commercially later this year, is likely to appeal to airlines with a poor reputation for losing luggage.
Greenplum brings self-service to warehousing
Greenplum, a provider of database software for the next generation of data warehousing and analytics, unveiled its enterprise data cloud (EDC) initiative, reports ebizQ.
According to the company, the EDC initiative is Greenplum's vision for bringing the power of self-service to data warehousing and analytics, encompassing three primary areas.
These include the EDC platform, which is based on self-service provisioning, elastic scale and massively parallel processing.
Etisalat intros video IVR self-service
SpeechStorm, a provider of phone self-service solutions, says its Middle East-based telecoms client, Etisalat, is the first to offer video calling-based customer care services to its 8.5 million Egyptian customers, states SourceWire. The solution was delivered in partnership with Genesys.
“Using Video IVR for self-service, customers can see all the options on the display of their mobile phone - no need to listen to complicated audio menus,” said Mohamed Afifi, businesses manager of Genesys Telecommunication Laboratories.
SpeechStorm provides the self-service application that greets customers when they access the service. This includes a range of commonly used features such as retrieving the phone un-lock code and getting access to billing and balance information, all available in both in English and Arabic.
