Alcatel Altech Telecoms has announced the completion of a R300 million extension contract for Vodacom in the Cape. The contract was aimed at increasing coverage, capacity and network performance, and included delivery of base stations, controllers and network engineering tools.
The company says the contact was awarded after successful trials of the Evolium GSM base station products in networks around the world.
Alcatel Altech Telecoms is a subsidiary of the R3 billion electronics company Altech and a joint venture between Alcatel, based in France, Altech and the Rethabile group. It has been supplying Vodacom with infrastructure since 1993.
