Alcatel today announces that its subsidiary Alcatel Shanghai Bell, the leading Chinese telecom technology vendor, has received the TL9000 international quality certification for its DSL production line. This quality certification has been awarded by Bureau Veritas Quality International Inc (BVQI), one of the most authoritative certification bodies in the world.

TL9000 (http://questforum.asq.org) is a globally recognized quality certification designed specifically to evaluate the production, delivery, installation and maintenance of telecommunications products and services. Based on the ISO9000 series, the global standard for general quality certification, TL 9000 certification incorporates a set of performance standards, for such metrics as electronic static discharge avoidance, disaster recovery, emergency services and overall quality improvement programs. TL9000 is the main quality standard used world-wide.
Alcatel Shanghai Bell received ISO9001 certification in 1995, and the ISO9001:2000 in 2001. ASB also earned ISO14001 certification in the year 2000.
