All Nokia phones to get NFC tech
Nokia has revealed that it plans to add near field communications (NFC) to all Nokia phones in the future, which means that even the company's upcoming batch of Windows Phones will have the chip inside, reports Tech Radar.
Bangkok Post says NFC technology will enable new Nokia smartphones to pair with other NFC-enabled mobile accessories including speakers, Bluetooth headphones and headsets simply by tapping them together.
Ilari Nurmi, a VP of Nokia, says the company was moving aggressively to promote the NFC system. “From now on, all of our products will have an NFC chip inside. All other NFC-equipped devices can also link to our products,” he said, adding that the Asia-Pacific would be a major market.
Thinq points out that Nokia's NFC plans with Windows 7 devices will make the cellphone manufacturer more competitive where Symbian and Maemo devices face dwindling market share.
In addition, NFC World states that Nokia has released three Symbian Belle phones - the Nokia 700, Nokia 701 and Nokia 600, which will all have NFC functionality and be able to support mobile payments.
