Altiris, Inc, a pioneer of service-oriented management solutions, today announced the integration of Wise Package Studio software with Altiris Software Virtualization Solution to provide businesses with efficient software operations, increased system availability and employee productivity. Wise Package Studio 7 now supports the creation, editing and management of virtual software packages to help configure systems correctly and reduce application conflicts.
Altiris application packaging and virtualisation technologies now work together to provide efficient software management only offered by Altiris. An existing .MSI file can now be virtualised for activation on SVS-enabled machines. This approach delivers the best of both worlds as the target system is appropriately configured by .MSI installation logic and the application runs virtually to avoid conflicts with other applications and the host operating system.

Wise Package Studio prepares applications and patches for deployment by properly configuring them to the unique requirements of computers in the target population. In addition to package creation and customization, Wise Package Studio also provides core functionality for managing and testing packages to help ensure reliable deployments.
SVS helps to reduce support costs and streamline software operations by providing faster, simpler and more manageable deployment of desktop applications. SVS also helps to eliminate application conflicts and delivers instant application activation, deactivation and reset capabilities.
Patent-pending SVS technology can also be centrally managed using the Altiris architecture to help customers benefit from integrated Altiris service-oriented management solutions including inventory, packaging, deployment, migration, software delivery and service management. Applications prepared with Wise Package Studio 7 help decrease the risk of application conflicts and deliver on on-demand application provisioning.

Wise Package Studio 7 will be available later this month. With the release of Wise Package Studio 7, Altiris will include 50 full licenses of SVS with each purchased copy of Wise Package Studio Professional or Wise Package Studio Suite going forward.
