Alvarion showcases growing offering of multi-technology wireless broadband solutions at AfricaCom 2011

Cape Town, 10 Nov 2011

Alvarion (NASDAQ:ALVR), a provider of optimised wireless broadband solutions addressing the connectivity, capacity and coverage challenges of public and private networks, returns to AfricaCom 2011, 9-10 November, at the Cape Town International Convention Centre, in Cape Town, South Africa.

As part of its ongoing strategy to introduce and expand its offering of multi-technology wireless broadband solutions for carrier and vertical customers, the company will be showcasing recent additions to its powerhouse portfolio at the booth, engaging with customers and media and reiterating its position at the annual Alvarion AfricaCom Press Conference.

The Alvarion booth is titled: “Solutions Made to Fit” as a reflection of its commitment to meeting the technological and business needs of the diverse African market.

Here are some of the highlights of Alvarion's participation at AfricaCom event:

* Alvarion will showcase a number of new and exciting products, among them the BreezeCOMPACT base station, the BreezeULTRA family product line and the TrueActive BreezeCELL for indoor capacity and coverage. Also featured will be Alvarion's latest BreezeMAX Extreme 5000 V1.8 and the BreezeMAX Pro 6000.
* A section of the booth has been allocated for Alvarion partners Axis and Pivot 3, which will be showcasing their own solutions.
* The Alvarion Press Conference was held on Wednesday, 9 November between 12:40pm and 1:30pm, at the Seminar Theatre, next to the Alvarion booth #D16. Alvarion presented with two customers, MTN Uganda and Gondwana, who delivered case studies on Alvarion deployments at Mediclinic and iWay Africa.
* Also at the event, Alvarion and valued customer MTN Uganda have been shortlisted for the AfricaCom Rural Telecoms Award for the Internet Caf'es Project carried out by MTN Uganda, in partnership with the national regulator, the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), which has been deploying Alvarion's Rural Broadband solution since December of 2010, to provide public Internet access in 23 rural districts within Uganda.
* Alvarion also hosted a Happy Hour event on Wednesday, 9 November.
