AMD has introduced the ATI FirePro 2450 Multi-View graphics card, a low-profile energy-efficient graphics accelerator that can drive up to four separate displays for information-intensive IT applications.
Designed to consume less than 18 Watts while in operation, the card is another example of AMD's commitment to making its products energy-efficient, the company says. Two VHCDI connectors with breakout cables enable quad DVI-I or VGA support, allowing for up to four monitors in high-resolution configurations for maximum screen real estate.
“The low power consumption enables cool, energy-efficient operation, as well as superior reliability and longevity. The compact form factor can be deployed in nearly any system. This accelerator is perfect for customers who need more than two displays, such as in financial services and process control,” says Imi Mosaheb, country GM of AMD South Africa.
The card's 512MB of onboard video memory means it performs admirably, even when running several applications over multiple windows, and it supports Windows Vista's Aero interface, Mosaheb adds.
The ATI FirePro 2450 Multi-View replaces ATI FireMV workstation cards that are currently in use in many financial organisations, and retails for approximately R6 000.
