AMD unveils mini PC prototype
Liliputing reports.
The AMD LiveBox also plugs directly into a power outlet: there is a two-prong power connector built into the case.
The AMD LiveBox is a prototype that could be a reference design for PC makers. AMD makes chips, not computers, but the LiveBox prototype shows what kind of mini-PCs could be built around AMD's low-power processors.
According to Register Hardware, the model on display features 64GB of SSD storage, which can be expanded through the Box's memory card reader.
There are also two USB 2.0 ports, a Gigabit Ethernet socket and the customary HDMI slot. There is also a slot for a 3G SIM card and the LiveBox includes Bluetooth 4.0 capabilities.
AMD has not said which companies are building systems based on the LiveBox, or indeed if anyone has tapped the reference design yet, Geek.com writes.
The company has also not provided pricing details.
