AMD unveils processor roadmap

AMD laid out its product roadmap plans at the Financial Analyst Day and announced seven new processors and five new platforms from the high-end PC segment to ultra portable netbooks, states Techtree.

The company also revealed its Yukon platform, an answer to the Intel Atom low-processor alternative for netbooks.

Yukon will be out next year in the first quarter, along with Bobcat, a slim processor with a chipset that has power consumption of less than 25 watts. The processor is meant for low-powered mobile devices.

HCL releases Leaptop Series 39

HCL has announced the availability of the Leaptop series 39 in the Indian markets, reports Freshnews.

The laptop is compatible with both Microsoft and Linux operating systems.

It features up to four hours of battery life, a 14.1-inch widescreen, the ability to consume below 1.7 watts of energy in sleep mode and below one watt in stand-by mode.

Europeans becoming connect-aholics

Europe is a continent of content-craving 'connect-aholics', according to the findings of the AMD European Connectivity Study of over 5 000 online respondents, Market Watch reports.

The survey asked respondents questions about their computing habits, specifically regarding notebook use and connectivity.

Following on the trend of an earlier AMD survey, which stated that 99% of respondents would rather part with their digital camera, BlackBerry, or MP3 player than their notebook, 77% of respondents said they could not live without daily access to the Internet.
