American School speeds up with Xerox N32

Johannesburg, 05 Jul 1999

The American School has standarised on six Xerox N32 monochrome laser printers to carry the load of its every day administrative paperwork, which includes tests, reports, assignments and graphic intensive media.

"The school caters for more than 530 pupils. We simply couldn`t keep up with costly ink cartridge replacements, paper wastage and support needed to run desktop printers for individual employees. It made more sense for us to buy the N32`s, as they are cost-efficient, networkable printers suited to a document intensive environment such as ours," says Barry Wright, VP of The American School.

"The N32`s process up to 32 pages per minute and with the envelope feeder, have made our tasks a lot easier as well. We have also purchased an additional hard disk drive to receive, process and hold jobs in a queue on the printer, eliminating any possible network bottlenecks associated with high-volume printing.

Angie Samuel, marketing manager at Xerox Channels Group, says the printer was designed to meet the requirements of workgroups and departmental arenas, such as The American School, with high-volume printing needs. "The printers paper handling capabilities can grow as the school expands. Additional trays can be added to hold a total of 3500 sheets of paper, accommodate A3 sizes and reload while jobs are running. Further increasing paper-handling capabilities, the mailbox option offers ten individual bins, capable of housing 100 sheets each.

"Each option allocates boxes to individuals or departments eliminating the need to sift through the documents printed by other staff on the network," says Samuel.
