EMC Legato EmailXtender has been given the opportunity to prove its value at the Dimension Data Campus. This techno-savvy office park is being kept ahead of the game from an e-mail archiving point of view through the implementation of EmailXtender.
This solution, available through local value-added distributor AmVia, is presently being rolled out across The Campus infrastructure. The rationale behind the roll-out of the EMC Legato software is to ensure regulatory data compliance, and also to ease some of the burden placed on IT staff, by relieving e-mail system management and recovery.
Comments Alan Burgess, Chief Information Officer at Dimension Data: "EmailXtender is helping us to assist our IT staff, relieving some of the burden placed on them, particularly relating to the recovery of e-mails. The system also empowers users to manage their own e-mail, reducing the need for storage capacity on each client machine, while still giving users the assurance that their e-mails, both new and old, can still be rapidly accessed.
"We elected to take a proactive approach and ensure that we`re compliant right now, rather than be caught out at the tail end and have to rush to implement an e-mail archiving solution."
EmailXtender makes searching through e-mails and their attachments fast and simple, with powerful drill-down information available on each message. In addition, the solution brings further cost savings for the office park in the form of intelligent storage allocation, message store pruning and powerful message store compression for server-side cost reduction.
Dimension Data is confident this EMC Legato solution will assist its infrastructure at The Campus to remain technologically ahead of the game. Cost benefits, full regulatory compliance and even enhanced e-mail server performance are expected to be the results of this particular project.
"We`ve already seen the massive benefits from an administration point of view which make e-mail discovery fast and painless," concludes Burgess.
