Computer Storage Services Africa (CSSI Africa) Pty Ltd won the NPI Gold award as SA`s top Emerging Company at the National Productivity Institute (NPI) awards gala held in Johannesburg on 29 October 2004.
The awards are a brainchild of the productivity think-tank, NPI, and are aimed at boosting high performance and management in socio-economic development.
"I would like to thank the NPI for acknowledging us as a leading emerging company in SA and as an inspiration to young individuals and entrepreneurs that this country is indeed full of opportunities," says Managing Director of CSSI Africa, James Grcic. "Further, I thank my staff, associates, suppliers and customers for making our company one of the fastest growing IT specialist firms."
NPI CEO, Dr Yvonne Dladla, commented: "The awards validate the successful management practices and improvements, by paying attention to evidence of social and economic benefits such as job creation, empowerment, improved working conditions and safety."
"Organisations that embark on improving services and products within their respective industries have been recognised by the NPI and productivity as not only an efficiency measure in terms of inputs and outputs. However, fundamentally a drive to add more and more value," says Melinda Maich, Marketing Manager of CSSI Africa. "Moreover, there is an urgent need to address job creation and ensure that previously neglected sectors have access to knowledge, skills, resources and technology. CSSI Africa has been doubling in staff, turnover and profits for the past four years, and is set to continue this trend."
CSSI Africa is SA`s leading storage specialist firm supplying and advising on the latest storage, hard disk, backup devices and network-attached storage (NAS) solutions.
The company was recognised for its advanced and powerful data recovery systems that have yielded record high recovery rates on data recovery and forensic tasks. The data recovery technology is now recognised as one of the best in the world. The company`s client base ranges from government institutions to large corporate entities, from private small businesses to students` personal desktop computers.
A significant task that CSSI Africa successfully completed this year was saving the Malawi elections. Discrepancies regarding the voters` roll and the databases supporting them were not functioning optimally, thus requiring the assistance of CSSI Africa. Within eight days, CSSI Africa was able to recover and accurately sequence the entire voters` roll and re-establish the databases, reducing the number of voters that the databases originally indicated, but was later discovered to be double entries, or registrations of abnormalities. The company was called in as a last resort after international experts had given up. A true sign of what South African technology companies can do. CSSI Africa has also made the list of SA`s most promising companies for 2004/2005.
