Analysis is key for multi-domain MDM

Organisations that deploy multi-domain master data management (MDM) services and manage interrelationships between multiple data domains will realise the benefits, according to Information Management.

The results will be shorter cycle times, reduced (or controlled) costs, and better forecasting, planning and transactional and analytical outcomes.

Before a multi-domain MDM service is deployed, a company should conduct a thorough analysis of the business uses and value of the system and the demands placed on it.

IBM says the demand for mainframe specialists is at an all-time high due to an increase in mainframe investments, states Computerworld.

The market share for IBM's System z mainframe platform has grown 17% to 30% over the past decade on a rolling four-quarter basis of the high-end segment priced over $250 000, according to International Data Group's high-end server quarterly tracker.

The increase is also reflected in the growth of IBM's Academic Initiative for System z, which provides resources to colleges and universities for mainframe skills education.

Both ARM and Intel confirmed the importance of the low-power embedded space market to their long-term technology strategies, says Low-Power Design Community.

Firstly, Intel disclosed news about its next-generation Xeon processors, codenamed 'Jasper Forest', due out early next year.

Jasper Forest is a systems-on-a-chip version of the Nehalem micro-architecture, including a one, two, or four core CPU plus an integrated PCI-e controller.
