Anglo Platinum standardises on IDXSuite

Johannesburg, 03 Jul 2003

IDXOnline is pleased to announce that Anglo Platinum has chosen to standardise on IDXSuite as its connectivity and integration tool of choice to service its advanced process control and optimisation requirements.

In May 2002, Anglo Platinum approached IDXOnline with a view to evaluating the use of IDXSuite as a standard connectivity/integration tool to service its advanced process control and optimisation requirements at its various mining operations. The adoption of a single tool would simplify the development and deployment of applications designed by and for Anglo Platinum. IDXSuite was under consideration for a number of reasons:

* An established track record with 24x7 operation in a number of applications.

* It is a locally produced and supported software suite.

* It offers competitive pricing.

* It provides an easily extended interface solution for disparate devices, with strong support in particular for G2 and OPC.

* Agility to cost-effectively be extended for changing requirements.

After an initial trial period, and a number of standalone implementations, the two parties worked together to formulate an agreement that would enable the site wide deployment of IDXSuite at certain existing sites and all future sites.

This agreement will ensure that IDXSuite continues to evolve such that Anglo Platinum`s existing and future requirements are met.

IDXOnline provides solutions for factory floor integration between disparate systems including desktop, MES and ERP applications. IDXSuite is a generic real-time tag database server that maintains a `snapshot` of current process values, timestamps and other attributes and is typically used as a gateway or bridge between a DCS, PLC (eg Siemens S7), Historian (eg PI) , Advanced Control System (eg G2), MES, ERP (eg SAP/R3) and an MMI or SCDA (eg InTouch). It may also be configured as a DDE, OPC or OLEDB data provider.

S7, PI, G2, SAP/R3 and InTouch mentioned herein may be trademarks or registered trademarks of their respective owners.
