Anglo`s e-learning is launched

By Onyx IT
Johannesburg, 21 Jun 2003

In 2003, ONYX IT was awarded a contract to train all Anglo American Johannesburg corporate office staff (approximately 1000 users) on how to use their newly implemented e-learning system.

Highly qualified and certified ONYX IT trainers delivered specialised on-site training. The project objectives were to:

1) Promote lifelong learning using e-learning as part of a blended approach to training and development in Anglo.
2) Deploy content that supports learning of the Microsoft Office Suite (including MS Project and Microsoft Outlook).
3) Optimise operational effectiveness and efficiency through limited time of engagement.
4) Provide an environment where employees will be able to assess their current skills levels in a range of MS Office applications, and based on the results of these online pre-assessments, engage in an accelerated learning program.

The project was implemented in June 2003 and spearheaded by Hendra Bezuidenhout.

The e-learning initiative attracted much favourable response from learners and group companies alike.

Staff that haven`t had any PC literacy experience, received classroom training conducted by ONYX IT before engaging in the e-learning initiative.
