Apple dominates mobile PC market
The Wall Street Journal reports.
Apple's growth was fuelled by iPad sales, allowing it to capture a 22.5% share of the mobile PC market, more than double that of rival Hewlett-Packard, which maintained its lead in the notebook and mini-notebook segment with a 16.2% share.
The iPad has 62.8% of the tablet market, followed by Samsung with 7.5%, Channel Register writes.
Amazon and RIM had 4% and 2.3%, respectively. Asus is the only mainstream PC maker to make a showing in the top five tablet brands, tying with RIM on a 2.3% share of the tablet market.
The Los Angeles Times notes that mobile PCs experienced 30% year-to-year growth, but that growth is mostly coming from tablets.
Individually, tablets had 124% year-to-year growth, dwarfing that of notebooks and mini-notebooks, which was only 12%.
