Apple's iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C devices will be available in Italy, Russia, Spain and more than 25 additional countries on 25 October. iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C will also be available in more than a dozen countries on 1 November.

However, the gadget giant has yet to set a date for when the handsets will arrive in South Africa.

Apple sold a record-breaking nine million new iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C models, just three days after the launch of the new devices.

iPhone 5S is characterised by its thin and light design, including the Apple-designed A7 64-bit chip, new 8MP iSight camera with True Tone flash and Touch ID, a biometric tool that has been hacked.

The 5C has a four-inch retina display, an A6 chip, and the 8MP iSight camera. Both devices offer more long-term evolution bands "than any other smartphone in the world," Apple has said.

Both handsets feature iOS 7,which Apple says is the most significant iOS update since the original iPhone.

5S comes in gold, silver or space grey. iPhone 5C comes in blue, green, pink, yellow and white. 5S cases are available in beige, black, blue, brown, yellow and red, while 5C cases are available in blue, green, pink, yellow, black and white.
