The dates for the South African release of the Apple iPod Nano have not been finalised, but Robin Olivier, Digicape director, says the digital music player should hit SA`s shelves in the next three to four weeks.
Apple unveiled the pencil-thin iPod Nano digital music player alongside the new iTunes-based Motorola cellphone - ROKR - in San Francisco yesterday, after frenzied speculation over what Apple`s next offering would be.
The Nano will be available in black or white, and is nearly as small as the iPod shuffle, the only differentiating factor being that it sports a clock wheel and holds up to 1 000 songs.
The slimmed-down Nano is about half a centimetre thick, 9cm long and 3.8cm wide.
Unlike the larger iPods and iPod shuffle, the Nano uses flash-based memory instead of hard-disk drives.
"Apple has not given an estimated time of arrival for the Nano, but based on history I am expecting it in three to four weeks," says Olivier.
The 2GB option will cost R1 728 while the 4GB option will cost R2 135, he adds.
