Apple has released an update to iOS 6, which fixes some bugs on the mobile operating system for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.

The iOS 6.0.1 update is available via iTunes, or wirelessly. Current iOS 6 users can access it by visiting the General menu and selecting "Software Update".

A bug currently prevents the iPhone 5 from installing software updates wirelessly, so iPhone 5 users will first be prompted to install an updater onto their phones in order to download the new OS update. Once installed, the iOS 6.0.1 update will enable over the air updates for the iPhone 5.

Other fixes in the update include the following:

* Fixes a bug where horizontal lines may be displayed across the keyboard.
* Fixes an issue that could cause camera flash to not go off.
* Improves reliability of iPhone 5 and iPod Touch (fifth-generation) when connected to encrypted WPA2 WiFi networks.
* Resolves an issue that prevents iPhone from using the cellular network in some instances.
* Consolidated the Use Cellular Data switch for iTunes Match.
* Fixes a Passcode Lock bug, which sometimes allowed access to Passbook pass details from lock screen.
* Fixes a bug affecting Exchange meetings.

While iOS 6.0.1 has been released to users, iOS 6.1 Beta has been released to developers via Apple's developer Web site.

9to5Mac reports some of the changes in iOS 6.1 include a new, large "Report a Problem" button in the Maps app. The lock screen music controls have also been changed and spread out over the entire width of the display.
