Apple sued over Ethernet patent

Apple and several other computer makers have been targeted in a patent infringement lawsuit involving Ethernet technology, according to Macnn.

The plaintiff, US Ethernet Innovations, claims the companies have been using intellectual property contained in at least one of four patents originally issued to 3Com between 1994 and 1998.

Only one Apple product, the MacBook Pro, has been named in the suit, allegedly infringing on claims contained in the '313 Patent' entitled 'Network interface with hose independent buffer management'.

Wii remote embargo tossed

Hillcrest Laboratories' dubious legal move to stop the import of Wii remotes is no more, states DS-x2.

Following the August settlement of its complaint with the US International Trade Commission, Hillcrest Laboratories has agreed to drop its patent lawsuit against Nintendo over the Wii remote.

In a joint filing with Nintendo Japan and Nintendo of America, Hillcrest asked a judge in Greenbelt to close the US District Court case.

CCTV wins illegal Webcast suit

China Central Television (CCTV) won a lawsuit against an Internet site based in Guangzhou that aired a portion of the Olympic torch relay last year without permission from the state-owned network, reports People's Daily Online.

CCTV's Web site was awarded $43 950 in compensation.

The Shijilong Information Network Company showed the live broadcast of the torch relay on 8 May, 2008, when the torch was at the world's highest peak on Mount Qomolangma.
