Apple unveils new iPhone 3G S
Apple has released the next generation of its iPhone, boasting faster speed, longer battery life, more memory and a host of software improvements while cutting the price down to $99 for a basic model, states News 24.
The announcement at the Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco came just two days after smaller rival Palm unveiled a phone called the Pre which many analysts had predicted would take a bite out of Apple's sales.
But Apple's response looks to counter the gambit of rivals like Palm, Blackberry and phones powered by Google's Android software.

Two separate publications now claim an Android Sony Walkman and Android PND are expected for release sometime in 2010.
Sony has long been trying to bring together different devices across its divisions under one common platform, so it's good to see Sony going with an open source software approach rather than inventing some fusty proprietary software.
