Apple updates iOS to version 5.1.1
wireless connectivity problems - well, at least not overtly, The Register reports.
The update, released Monday, is for the iPhone 3GS and later, the third- and fourth-generation iPod touch, and the iPad and iPad 2 - presumably by "iPad", Apple means both the original iPad and the third-generation iPad, aka "The new iPad".
According to NDTV, the update improves reliability of using the HDR option for photos taken using the Lock Screen shortcut; addresses bugs that could prevent the new iPad from switching between 2G and 3G networks; fixes bugs that affected AirPlay video playback in some circumstances; improves reliability for syncing Safari bookmarks and Reading List; and fixes an issue where 'Unable to purchase' alert could be displayed after successful purchase.
The updated software can be downloaded from Apple.com, via iTunes, or over-the-air on compatible iDevices, Hindustan Times notes.
Alternatively, writes IT Business, users can install the update directly from their iOS devices, if they're running iOS 5 or later: Launch Settings, tap General, and then tap Software Update. As a delta update, the iOS 5.1.1 upgrade is a much smaller file than iOS updates before iOS 5 generally were.
