Apricorn, a manufacturer of notebook memory upgrade and storage expansion products, has launched the addition of 25, 18 and 12 gigabyte (GB), Hard Disk Drives (HDD) to its line of storage products, offering notebook users the industry`s highest density available. Apricorn`s products are available in SA from component distributor AXiZ.
Intended for heavy data storage, these HDDs are ideal for such applications as multi-media presentations, and Internet and Digital Video Disk (DVD) applications. The new densities are available for sale individually, or bundled with Apricorn`s EZ-GIG Data Transfer Utility Kit, a three-in-one solution enabling HDD upgrades, backup, and secondary data.

In April 1997, Apricorn streamlined the hard drive upgrade process for portable computers with its EZ-GIG Data Transfer Utility Kit. The product enables a direct connection to a new, larger-capacity hard drive through a PC Card interface and Apricorn`s proprietary utility software. With the click of a mouse, EZ-GIG transfers the operating system and all of the data, files and applications to the new hard drive.
The new drive is then installed and the system boots exactly as before - no reinstallation or reconfiguration is necessary. EZ-GIG is also equipped with bi-directional capabilities and can be used as an external hard drive and/or backup storage device. EZ-GIG saves time and money, eliminating the user`s need to reinstall their operating system onto a new drive, or send their notebook out for service. EZ-GIG is both PC and Macintosh compatible.
