Archival System will manage 100 million pages a year of customer documents

Asahi , of Japan has chosen the MobiusElectronic Document Warehouse software suite to manage customer records and documents, including account records from both paper and wire transactions. The Mobius products are available locally through Bateleur Software Solutions.

The system will give users at the Asahi central bank and 330 branches instant, on-line access to 4,000 different kinds of documents and 100,000,000 pages of documents each year, according to bank officials. When fully operational, 5,000 users in all branches will use the system to archive, retrieve, and display all customer management documents. Asahi Bank expects to save 700,000,000 Yen (U.S. $6 million) - approximately 70 percent of related administrative costs - by providing instant access to customer documents and avoiding storage and of paper documents.

The Mobius Electronic Document Warehouse (EDW) is an integrated suite of products that archives and integrates documents of different formats on a wide variety of computing platforms and electronic storage devices, making them available over corporate networks and the .

Asahi Bank will use ViewDirect, the archiving engine and document server, including the option to access documents direct from tape; and DocumentDirect, the Windows-based viewing client. .

"The Mobius software will enable us not only to improve our cost structure and operational performance but also to provide improved customer service and electronic storage of tax documents," said Mr. Matsushima, systems manager at Asahi headquarters. Asahi Bank expects to eliminate the paper storage of tax documents as well as customer management documents.

"This is a perfect example of the solution offered by Mobius EDW architecture to financial institutions that require on-line access to very large volumes of documents that typically include records of wire transactions and tax compliance. Such a project will help any bank to improve operational performance between its headquarters, its branches and most importantly its clients throughout the country," says Sam Selmer-Olsen, director of Bateleur Software Solutions.
