ARM eyes 40% notebook share

Maximum PC.

The company owns the tablet market in the same manner that Intel dominates netbooks, and ARM is a major player in the smartphone space, too.

According to Tech Eye, in an interview with Digitimes, its president Tudor Brown has said that by 2015, ARM will have a 40% share in the notebook market.

Brown believes ARM will hold its top spot in the tablet PC market by 2015 with an overall share of 85%.

According to PC Mag, Brown's argument for ARM gaining so much ground rested on two factors. One, he “believes that notebooks in the future will be even lighter, convenient, cheaper, and have longer running times.”

Second, he is depending on a partnership with Microsoft to bear fruit as the software giant continues to tailor its Windows operating systems less specifically to x86-based processors as it pursues more opportunities in mobile.
