Ascential Software, the data integration leader, has completed the acquisition of Mercator Software.
"The acquisition of Mercator expands Ascential`s Enterprise Data Integration Suite and creates the industry`s first and most comprehensive data integration product set for transactional, operational and analytical requirements, regardless of data volumes or latency. This enables customers to apply data integration solutions pervasively," says Julian Field, MD of local Ascential distributor CenterField Software.
All operations of Mercator are being immediately integrated into those of Ascential. The combined technologies, distribution channels, partnerships, geographic coverage and skill sets, make Ascential the largest independent enterprise data integration software company with current annualised revenues of $250 million and more than 3 000 customers.
"Mercator`s offerings are widely recognised for their ability to address high-performance, real-time, complex data transformation and routing requirements in transaction-oriented environments," adds Field. "As such, they are a natural complement to Ascential`s enterprise data integration products."
The acquisition has attracted positive reactions from industry analysts, media, customers and partners, increasing Ascential`s market visibility and building on the company`s leadership in enterprise data integration software solutions. It is expected to be accretive to earnings in the first year of combined operations, as a result of cost synergies, cross-selling opportunities and new revenue streams resulting from the addition of complementary products, channels and geographic presence.
Field adds that the acquisition has attracted significant attention in SA, where a few corporate clients had already identified Mercator`s offerings as adding significant value to their business.
"Mercator can assist companies in integrating disparate processes in support of automation projects," says Field. "We fully expect Mercator to enjoy the same level of acceptance as Ascential`s existing data integration offerings, which have become the corporate standard in SA."
