Ascential Software has announced the availability of two new DataStage Packaged Application Connectivity Kits (PACKs) that enable companies to maximise the effectiveness of their SAP projects in heterogeneous environments.
In the course of deploying enterprise resource planning (ERP) and customer relationship management (CRM) solutions from SAP, customers often need to incorporate data from other sources. By enabling integration of disparate data types, the two new DataStage PACKs allow companies to incorporate their full business data into their SAP BW-driven projects so they can make most informed business decisions and have complete information on their customers.
In additional, customers can leverage the full power of the Ascential enterprise data integration solution - which includes data profiling, quality management, transformation and metadata management - when deploying and maintaining their SAP solutions.
"Companies have a tremendous amount of data they need to process and understand to deploy ERP, CRM and other enterprise applications," says Julian Field, GM of Ascential Software South Africa. "By incorporating Ascential`s enterprise data integration solutions in their SAP environments, companies gain a complete view of their business and of their customers.
The DataStage Load PACK 3.0 for SAP BW is an upgraded solution for loading non-SAP data into SAP BW. New metadata management functionality in this PACK allows metadata from other sources to be integrated into SAP BW, providing a company with automatic metadata mapping and seamless data integration into its SAP BW-based environment. SAP BW is a technical component of the mySAP Business Intelligence e-business solution.
Additional enhancements include the ability to stream non-SAP data directly into SAP BW for faster and more efficient incorporation of non-SAP data, and the ability for SAP BW administrators to control and perform DataStage job monitoring through the SAP BW Monitor interface. The Load PACK for SAP is a SAP-certified interface solution.
The DataStage PACK 4.0 for SAP R/3 enables companies to load non-SAP data into their SAP R/3 environments. Typically, loading data is required at the initial implementation of R/3. This PACK can also be used to extract data from SAP R/3 for the purpose of integrating SAP and other data sources. For example, extracting corporate reference data (such as customer, material and vendor master data) from SAP R/3 for data validation, quality assessment and data enrichment helps ensure that a company populates SAP R/3 and SAP BW with a consistent reference foundation. Standardised reference data is the key to accurate reporting for business purposes, such as sales and inventory analysis and supply chain management.
